Power Week

Last Monday I talked a big game about how "this is going to be the week I hit the 60's" all woohooing and delirious with unrealistic ambition. I, in fact, did not hit the 60's. I did enjoy a milkshake, some fried food, and a whole lot of auction fun that kept my focus elsewhere from Wednesday through yesterday. I completely checked out and as a result the scale gave me a hearty fist shaking with a ripe 178lbs this morning.

I've also talked a big game about "making life changes" and "doing things that will make a long term difference" and about not giving up everything I love just to be skinny. I still think these are all principles that have gotten me to where I am today but its time that I sock myself with some realism. To lose weight you have to eat less than you burn. In order to do that I need to not eat milkshakes and fries and I need to exercise more. I think the biggest thing I've learned how to do is to maintain the weight I keep off. I'm hella confident....(did I just use the word Hella? WTF?) that I can keep this weight off with techniques (ie walking) that will burn off what I eat and keep me balanced. As you know though, I have some weight to LOSE by September.

When I started this my habits were horrendous and so making smaller changes made a bigger difference. Now that all the easy weight has come off now its harder to find things I can cut out of my life all the time to lose the weight without feeling like I'm one of those crazy fitness people that never eats anything I like ever. The shitty thing is, those "crazy fitness people" don't have trouble with the curvy because they LIKE to exercise and they LIKE to eat food that a rabbit might eat or a deer might find in a garden...

The truth is that I need to tap into my crazy fitness self to get this done.  I'm going to do this through, what I'm calling, Power Weeks. A Power Week (as defined by Katie Leighton) is a week in which one earns 65 total points for the week. My average has been about 40 on a good week... I have two weeks before the Fourth of July long weekend and I would really like to be in the 60's when that happens so I'm going to do two Power Weeks in a row. Over the next two weeks I have to not eat fried food or sugar and I will be stepping up my exercise routine. I will do a 15 minute muscle workout in the morning (arms, abs, butt, etc), walk 3 miles on my lunch break (it totally amazes me that I can accomplish this in one hour) and then do a cardio workout in the evening like Zumba or another 3 miles walk/run... The goal on the afternoon walk is to beat my pace from the lunch walk.  I have to continue to also eat more veggies and keep the after work adult beverages to a minimum. At the end of the two weeks, if I do all this and I don't see a 6 between the one and the other number on my scale I'm f%^ing quitting and ending this blog because clearly I'm not an authority on anything but being a big ol' loser face. I sense this is NOT going to be the case so don't give up on me yet.
