Bring on the Fall

The Fall is coming fast and I'm so excited. It is, and always has been, my favorite season. I loved snuggling down in a new sweater and watching a soccer game. I loved the newness of going back to school, and the chill in the air. I love the baking and the approaching holidays. This Fall I can't wait to bake in my new kitchen! I only wish I had a week to spend at home to enjoy more of it...

I am looking forward to Fall walks too. I can't help but feeling like I am just not doing enough to reach my goal. I feel like I need to kick it into high gear and just haven't tapped into the energy to do it yet. I feel good about my progress but I know what I've been doing isn't enough. There are a lot of things I can do I just have to do them.

The first thing I can do is track my calories. I think I need to better understand my habits. Without knowing what the calorie intake and burn-off statistics are, I can't possibly make better choices. I need data.  The ever-fantastic Michelle Dore recommended Sparkpeople, an app that helps you determine how many calories you should be eating to get to your goal. Her hubby has been wildly successful using it and she highly recommended it. She also pointed out that having a calorie free wine would be a good product. I couldn't agree more... One cup has almost 200 calories.

The other thing I can do is start going to a Zumba class again. I loved doing Zumba and you work off a ton of calories. I think adding it to my routine twice per week would help a lot.

I think I want to also start giving each day a grade. I want to somehow measure my daily progress so I can identify what I need to work out. I figure I could factor in how hard the workout was, my food choices for the day, if I got super hungry, my weight, and my mood to determine the grade. Today would be a D for sure as I didn't push myself very hard, am having hot dogs for supper, and am super hungry because I didn't have an afternoon snack and that lead me to chomping down on a handful of some super greasy potato chips.

I need some metaphorical comfort food for my ears to help me relax so I want to share this video of local artist Chris Ross on Danny Cashman's the Nite Show. I love Chris and this song is a good one. Enjoy!
