You want me to lift WHAT off the floor?!

The last time I wrote a blog, Myspace was popular and Facebook wasn't open to anyone outside of a college email address. I know, I'm ancient.

Since Myspace trained me as a blogger, I'm not quite privy to the rules... Should blogs be written at the same time every day? Even if this is a "rule" I'm breaking it because you can't time inspiration.

Today is my first immediately post workout blog! Woohoo! As promised today started with interval running and followed up with a bowl of granola and some 30 day challenge workout research.

I thought I'd try the 30 Day Ab Challenge from 30DayFitnessChallenges.com. A few points though. First, what the hell is the difference between a crunch and a sit-up? Apparently sit ups are the ones where you have to go all the way up lifting your lower back off the floor and crunches are the ones where your lower back can stay on the floor. To be clear, my lower back does not come off the floor. Really. I just tried it simply is not going to happen. So is there a 30 day pre sit up challenge to prepare me for the full 30 Day Ab challenge? When I Google this question I stumble upon no helpful information. Instead I find this comment: "um... wow... were you one of those people that failed PE class?"

No. Thank you very much. I did not fail PE but that's only because I kicked ass at dodge ball (fat kids that can catch balls are incredibly dangerous in dodge ball).  I, however, couldn't do a sit up then either but that doesn't make me weak at heart. It means I've got weak stomach muscles. And I'm working on that alright?! Damn internet with all it's naysayers.

So my conclusion is that the 30 day ab challenge is out for now.  Instead I'm going to do the 30 day crunch challenge. Take that sit ups! I'm gonna get ripped without you! HA!

Here's the plan:
30 Day Abs Fitness Challenge

First 20 crunches done! It's not even Noon on a hump day and already I'm killin' it.

  1. This is awesome! Have you thought about doing planks? They are EPIC for working your abs, obliques, arms, legs, butt, fricken everything, and you don't have to do those horrible sit ups.. No matter your size I think sit ups should go crawl in a hole and die... I personally LOATHE them, but that may be because I always ended up with a bruised spine. You also need someone to sit on your feet to even do a sit up, and who has someone just hanging around to sit on your feet?

If you do want to some time try sit ups maybe add in some planks as well as the crunches and it will get you to the point to be able to do a full sit up. If you want to totally be insane like my husband, do a plank on a stability/yoga ball. If you can do that, you sure as hell can pull off a sit up.
