The First 12
Today I feel like a whole new woman. Even though I worked all weekend I feel rejuvenated. I also have a particular milestone to celebrate. After not weighing myself all weekend I stepped on the scale today and it said 200lbs. I could barely believe it and had to have Ben come in and tell me if I was just delirious from my workout in the 86 degree heat. I was not. I wanted to include my weight in each blog post so I could have a tangible way to track my actual weight. I bought a scale for the first time in my life when I started "Project Curvy" and tonight it said 200lbs.
On Thursday I reported in at 209. Today I'm reporting in at 200. I, however, did NOT lose 9 lbs over the weekend. Not to worry, I am not starving myself. So how do I account for this? I don't have a digital scale. On the day I bought the scale I set it a little ahead so if it said 212 as I did when I started I was probably around 210 or 209. Today the scale was set back to the true 0 so these 12 lbs I'm celebrating is more like 7 or 8. I'm still proud of the progress in 2 weeks though. The true weigh in will be at my doctor's office when I visit every 6-12 months. The day to day weigh ins are just to give me a rough idea. I have my next Dr. appt on the 11th and will report the "accurate" weight and will set my scale to match. This should calibrate my scale and give me a much better idea of my day to day progress.
I am also looking into going to the pool again. The last time I had any success with the curvy was when I had my days free. I worked early mornings at one radio station and nights at another and had from 11a to 6p off every weekday... it was incredibly sweet but sadly only lasted a summer. I spent a lot of those days at the pool and when I wasn't at the pool for at least an hour a day I was at the gym for at least an hour then I would usually take a walk in the afternoon before going to my night shift at the radio station. The pool was so good for me, it worked all the muscles in my body and it is by far my favorite way to exercise. I'd love nothing more than to go for a swim in the morning for my workout. The only thing that would make it better would be if I could listen to my ipod while doing it. Come on Apple. Get on making a waterproof ipod.
The other thing I used to do in the summer of 2007 was find killer recipes and ate all kinds of good food as a result. In honor of that summer 6 years ago I am going to include a recipe that I want to try, have created, or have made and want to share every Monday night. I'll post recipes throughout whenever I find something amazing but every Monday you can count on one. Tonight's recipe is perfect for summer. I made it tonight and it earned a "solid 4.5 out of 5 stars" from Ben.
