Foodie!

The first thing I have to talk about tonight is Ben's killer ham Italian sandwiches. I came home a little worn out tonight after a mentally taxing day at work and grocery shopping so Ben told me to relax and he'd make supper. With thinly sliced ham, one slice of American cheese, a perfect pickle, fresh green peppers and onions, and black olives he crafted a perfect sandwich on a whole wheat roll. On the side? Pita chips and hummus (thanks to Julie Collins who recommended them and now I'm totally hooked). It "hit the spot" as they say. It was fantastically delicious.

The best part of all of my changes is that I don't feel like I'm forced to eat rabbit food. I think I am going to just discover all kinds of things I haven't thought to try yet. I have a completely open culinary mind.

In the last 2 years or so I've developed a wicked diet soda habit. I like the carbonation. There is something so refreshing about a cold soda. I knew I needed to drink more water though. last week sometime I was traveling and stopped into a store for a drink. Instead of a soda I got a flavored seltzer water. I was amazed at how good it was. It was an orange one. Since then I've tried a black raspberry one, cherry one, and lemon lime. Sadly there is no Mountain Dew flavored seltzer but I'll live. They are all good so far and they are a great replacement for my soda habit.

Between the sandwich, the pita chips, and the seltzer sodas I am feeling good about making these regular choices. I even have a good lead on a sweets recipe that is delicious and organic I just need it to cool off a little bit because it is no fun to bake in summer heat.

I just created a Pinterest board I'm going to fill with recipes that look like something I want to try. This can be a community board. If you're a "pin head" like me and want to pin to it, follow me or send me your email address and I'll add you to the board.

This is going to be fun!

In honor of DOMA being struck down I wanted to share one of my favorite engagement proposals. It's not a same sex couple but I don't think that much matters. Love is love and that is really the point.
