SECRET TO LOSING WEIGHT REVEALED!!!!!
Today is Miracle Treat Day! One day every summer Dairy Queen donates $1 of every Blizzard sale to the Children's Miracle Network. I've been waiting all summer to have a S'more blizzard and today was the day!
I think this is so awesome that every year I take a big group order from work and it is always such a big hit. This year the kindness got spread a little further because Day's Jewelers is raising $100,000 for Jewelers for Children and we are doing a "100 Acts of Kindness" campaign. So this year, I told everyone who ordered that I would donate a dollar to the JFC campaign and if they wanted to beef up the donation they could donate the change from their Blizzard. I ended up raising $29 for the CMN and $50 for JFC! It is such a good day and I had Ice cream for lunch.
I probably shouldn't admit that in a "fitness" blog but dear readers, you know me and you know this is barely a fitness blog. ALSO yesterday was a big day for me! Yesterday I saw 172lbs on the scale for the first time!! This means I am down 40lbs from my starting weight of 212lbs!!
I really have found the secret to losing weight and unfortunately it isn't eating ice cream for lunch. The secret is getting a puppy. Brutus is seriously my new personal trainer and I mean that very literally. Last night we went to the park to play (as grass in the rain is way better for my mentality than mud all through my house). We started playing a new game where he wants to run and I just keep up with him. This means when he sprints I sprint. When he walks, I walk. When he dashes up a hill I do my damndest to just not face plant it. I really wish I could be a bystander watching this whole process because it has to be HILARIOUS watching me try to keep up with this little dog whose legs are as long as my forearm. He really is so great for me and I look forward to our walks together. Don't get me wrong, it is hard work and frustrating at times but he is what our lives have been missing.. well that and s'more blizzards....
I have to send a special shout out to Holly Rae because she introduced me to Miracle Treat Day when I was an Intern and she did remotes at Dairy Queen. She has been such a great supporter for me and I really wish that we could have done a real radio show on a big kid station back when. I hope she knows how awesome I've always thought she was... Kind of my hero even.. I hope everyone has the opportunity to know someone like Holly because the world needs more people like her. She reached out to me and showed me kindness more times than she probably even remembers but I won't ever forget it. She has such a positive energy and the only regret I have is not getting to know her better when we had the chance living in the same city. I hope one day we have the time to do a podcast together because, kids, that would be the best show you ever heard!!
Now go get yourself a blizzard and help a kid. Would ya?
