You'll find what you look for

I feel like it is time for a little positivity because my last two posts have been feisty to say the least. I'm still really disappointed in the terrible Zumba class but I'm recovering. I can't wait for the sun to rise earlier and set later so I can do my walks again. I really miss that every morning.

There is nothing like a cool group of people to make you feel like your weight doesn't define you. I work with several girls I really adore. Melissa is fierce and girly and I love it because she reminds me you don't have to be one or the other. Amanda is bubbly and modern and feels like the little sister I never had. Hannah, I'm still getting to know but she is fun, stylish, and has the awesomest dog I've never met. We all have different body and personality types but I feel like we are a unit. Officially we are the Day's Jewelers social media team and occasionally we do photo shoots as the social media team so people can get to know us. Today we had one of those shoots and it was so much fun!

I know so many girls that are ridiculously gorgeous and simply hate seeing themselves in photos. I LOVE having my picture taken and I am not model material at all so I can't understand how someone so beautiful can take issue with pictures of themselves. I'm not saying every picture will be flattering because that isn't realistic but if you judge yourself harshly first, you don't give others the opportunity to surprise you and see you in a way that you want them to. In every photo that is taken of me I want my personality to show through not just my hips (they don't call me a hippy because I'm a tree hugger...). Sometimes I'll look dumb but so what? Just because I'm not professional model material doesn't mean I can't enjoy pretending to be one. Photos give you the opportunity to see yourself the way that others see you. The sooner you get comfortable with the way others see you the more enjoyment you'll get out of life. 

I've always loved having my picture taken and I refuse to be embarrassed by how I look in them. I am confident that I am beautiful and every single photo that is taken of me is a new opportunity to see that beauty in myself. I'm not looking for perfection, just beauty. Some of the photos we took today definitely show all of us in a light that will showcase our inner and outter beauty. 

Today's positive thought of the day is that you will find what you are looking for in pictures and in life. If you look for something wrong you'll find it. If you look for something beautiful you'll find that too. Try looking for the things that will make your world a better place.

I have come to learn from doing this blog that I don't do stress well. When I'm stressed I'm not myself and I'm pretty miserable to be around. Yesterday, with a research paper staring me down, I let myself get worked up and stress got the better of me. On my last day of a wonderful 3 day weekend, I was... well... a shrew. I don't think I'm alone though. I think we all have our moments that we look back on and feel a deep shame for being so absolutely ridiculous. If it Weren't for Those Meddling Carbs...

If I am not writing, I am probably busy eating something that would make Shaggy and Scooby jealous... Not writing makes it easier to ignore that I am not living up to a commitment that I've made to myself. Writing reminds me how often I have taught others how to treat me by how I treat myself. Writing exposes me to exactly how uncomfortable I am when I am vulnerable. Vulnerability is why I eat like cartoon characters and pretend I won't gain weight like a human being.  I am certain that I am not unique in this dance with vulnerability. The world is a briar patch full of thorny shit and long ago we humans learned how to armor up to protect ourselves from being stuck around every corner. When we are kids, fresh into this chronologically excursion through the pricklies, we are just trying to figure out the world, it doesn't take an immense amount of brains to realize that getting poked hurts, hurting sucks, and protecting yourself from getting poked means you will hurt less. Weight Loss Myths

Daylight savings time has actually had a pretty positive effect on my workouts. My inner clock is still set to wake up happy between 6:30- 6:45a except the actual time now is 5:30-5:45a. I  don't feel groggy or like I'm missing out on any sleep AND it is light out earlier so I don't get intimidated by the darkness and use it as an excuse to go back to bed. When I wake up earlier I feel better about the workout. It makes me feel like I'm one of those fitness bad asses that actually enjoy waking up early to workout. I feel like I set myself up for more productivity when I've already been up and worked out before I get to work. The one downside is that the "fall back" happens in November when it gets super cold in the mornings. This morning I woke up and enjoyed all of the aforementioned things and then I stepped out onto the porch and felt how cold it was. I pushed through and did some running just to warm up!
